What Does The Home Buying Process Look Like?
Does the thought of purchasing your first home have you feeling anxious, excited and full of questions?
If you answered yes, these emotions are normal.
Check out the steps to purchasing your 1st home.
1. Speak to a loan officer.
Purchasing your first home is an emotional decision and possibly the biggest purchase you will make in your life. Contact me today to discuss your goals and determine next steps.
2. Complete the loan application.
Once you have decided to purchase your home the next step is to complete the loan application. During this step we will check your credit, calculate your qualifying income, and determine how much home you may be able to afford.
3. Get pre-qualified.
After the loan application is complete you will need to submit documentation to prove your ability to repay the mortgage. You will need to supply 2 recent paystubs, 2 recent bank-statements and the last 2 years tax retuens and W2s
4. Look for your new home!
This will be your favorite part of the loan process. Once you know how much home you can afford, your realtor can begin showing you homes in your price range. Word of advice…once you find a home that suits your needs make sure to move quickly to step 5.
5. Write the contract and head to underwriting.
Once you have located your new home you it is imperative that you make an offer on the property. A common mistake many 1st time buyers make is believing the property they like will be there in a few days or weeks. After your offer is accepted your loan file will move to the underwriting stage for final approval.
